Instructions for care:

To keep your knife in peak condition, be mindful to keep both the tool and its sheath as dry as possible. Your knife and sheath will inevitably come in contact with water, and when that happens, just remember to completely dry both as soon as possible. Be careful when holstering your knife, as the leather will absorb water and takes longer to dry. After some time, your knife will begin to patina. This is a natural process non-stainless steels go through, similar to seasoned cast iron. This is not rust, it will help to protect against dirt and water as well as help to prevent true rust. Never ever put your knife in the dishwasher. To clean your knife, use a moist, almost dry cloth to wipe away any dirt or grime, then wipe dry. While the leather, handle material, and steel are waxed/oiled, the current coating will eventually wear away. At least once a month, depending on use, apply a thin coat of oil or wax to the steel. If you use your knife to cut food, be sure to use a food safe oil or wax. To care for the leather, it is recommended to reapply leather wax at the same time you decide to oil your knife. When applying leather wax, focus attention on the seems and stitches.

After extensive use, the edge of your knife will eventually dull. To extend the life of your edge before sharpening, a few passes on a leather strop before use will help to keep a sharp edge. If however, your knife loses its edge, I will sharpen any EKM Forge product for free. If your knife needs additional services, visit the tool spa here.
